Today, November 24th, 2007, I redid this list. As might have been expected, I found some listings that I knew were not long valid, and a couple that I could find no reference to on the internet. I deleted those. In addition, I found links of some sort, if only citysearch, on several and therefore have provided not just my verbage but links as well. Hope you find this helpful.
This is going to serve as my list of clubs available to go to in Nashville. It is NOT a complete list...if I have an aversion to a particular bar, I simply shalln't list it. If I think it is not really for T-girls, I shalln't list it. My choice, my site.LOL I dont go out very often at this time...what with Roy not feeling well, and me working every day in a stressful job, plus other things. Well I mostly go home and to bed...or just relax..LOL But if I WERE to go out, here is one I would most likely go.
Tribe Nashville--This place is wonderful, one of the oldest bars in the Church Street Strip and kinda an anchor. They opened billing themselves as a bar for the alternative tribe...without attitude. They succeed. Very nice friendly staff, even have a door person on occasions. How many bars do you know of where someone is there to open the door for you to walk in or out?? Unfortunately I dont find the crowd very friendly. Best to go here with a group of friends. .
Purple Heys..This club is a good place for me personally..as a Nashville person familar with the old Jungle it can be like old home week. Not a particularly "happening" bar..more in the line of a quiet "neighborhood" watering hole.
Rudyard Kipling--422 W Oak St (I believe): a truely congenial envirnment, very accepting. The owner's name is Ken and he is quite a clown. Guys that "aint seen a girl like us" come up and compliment us. Truely an ego building place. (smile) And BTW the food is to DIE FOR!!!!!!!!!! Mia's--a wonderful restaurant...serves all sorts of food as well as has live music. It can serve as a nightclub or bar because
alcohol is definitely available. Very cordial and T friendly. In fact one of the waiters is in the Imperial Court and wanted to show his en femme
picture before I left. The food is top notch!!
Starlight by the Park (834 N Rampart St, New Orleans, La)--A "neighborhood" bar, very very friendly. A place open and accepting of just about everybody. And in this bars case, that doesnt just mean what the management says is true, but what the patrons live out. Wonderful, my new favorite for the Big Easy. Nino's-(cheshire bridge rd)--a wonderful Italian restaurant, very friendly..excellent food. Nobody with a couple of exceptions (and I do mean 1 or two and even that was only somebody turning around at their booth to look back at us...and could have been a coincidence or my imagination) even take any notice of us...very safe in femme I would say.
Lexington, KY
The Bar Complex--this bar is Lexington's finest gay establishment with one of the best drag shows I have ever seen. The performers and the customers are
well suited for one another because the group is obviously appreciative of drag which the performers pick up on and are
inspired to do their very best. The chemistry is amazing..and the only problem you might have is working your way to the
stage to tip a performer.(smile)
New Orleans La
Double Play--corner of St Louis and Dauphine, New Orleans. A neighborhood bar where all types of people drink and have fun. Some hustling is done from here, but the bartenders make sure nobody get robbed or mistreated. A nice staff. One of its advantages is that it is a bit more centrally located within the Quarter than the Starlight which is out on the edge. There is no website, but it is on the list of gay bars in New Orleans on the internet.
Atlanta, GA
Burkharts--This is one of the friendest bars I have even been in. Even on the internet, without knowing who I am, the staff was willing to take time to give me information about myspace technology. Very helpful friendly bunch of people. Excellent inexpensive food, btw.
