In many ways Billy's Hollywood Screen Kiss, is a gay version of Easy. The main character, Billy, played by Sean P Hayes of "Will and Grace" fame, plays a photography who meets and falls in love with a young man. He becomes obsessed in finding out if the guy is gay or not. The young man is a bit of a mystery. He does have a girlfriend but they seem not be getting along that well, what with the lost distance and all.

We watch as Billy chases said love interest, his best female friend has trouble with her boyfriend and they go to Catalina where another, more successful photographer is having a special shoot and party.

A lot of the assumptions made by various of the characters is explored. For example one of Billy's lesbian friends is from Catalina, and reminds them that her family doesnt know she is gay. Her cousin who is taking Billy across to the island's first questons is "is my cousin still a big old dyke" (dont worry this is said totally without any rancor, almost as "silly girl we all know"). So much for assuming one is safely in the closet. The same thing goes for Billy's pursue for love. We discover, as does Billy, that someone who was very much in love with HIM was right there beside him all the time. Only now of course it appears to be too late as that guy seems, at movie end, to have found someone else.

As with Easy, I am left wondering to myself, how many wonderful opportunities do I, and many other's miss because we are so tied up in our own "issues"?? Very good, interesting movie.
