This movie is another found on HereTv, and may have limited availablity unless you get cable or live in a town where they have a gay movie rental place, or a "special interests" section in a more general store. However, this movie is worth the work of finding it. This movie was made in Canada and along a large host of actors, includes Allan Cummings as Father Chris.
The main character is not gay in this film. However, he is surrounded by those that are, and the issue has struck very very close to home. He is estranged from his family and living on the street, and the only "family" he is able to find is a gay hustler and a priest. Of course he doesnt trust the priest.
A large part of the movie deals with the "chip on his shoulder" he has, and gradually we found out why he has such a chip. Part of his healing comes from a recording his father gives him of his grandfather's time in WWII. All throught the movie, we are taken back and forth till we join him in almost being confused about which is REAL.
The upshot of the movie is not that he learns to forgive others, but learns to forgive himself, and is able then to build a very good life for himself, despite the very real horror he has had to endure. I suggest this movie for just about anybody, except maybe for the very young..(like under 18).
