New Years Eve, 2009
Yes, I went out last night for New Years. Decided that I might as well, especially since my usual den of iniquity was having a special show to welcome in the new year. Now a bit of history might be good at this point. Some 17 plus years ago, I started being Vickie at a club called Five Points, which a short time later burned up on the inside. To this day, I am not sure whether it was burned for the insurance or because the neightborhood didn't "cotton to no gay bar" in their back yard, but nonetheless that is what happened.
After 5 points burned, we started going to the bar Roy had gone to prior to 5 Points, Victor Victorias. It has drag and was a very interesting place. Not what you could call a "nice" place really. Lots of street wise, even street hustlers frequented the bar. I became somewhat savvy on knowing what was what, in an envirnment that I had never frequented before.
Last night was a march down memory lane as well as a look into a different future..and was great fun besides.
I got to visit briefly with Marlayna, one of the old Victor Victoria's crowd as she was in the special New Years show. I hadnt seen her in several years. That was interesting. I was reminded all over again what it was like to talk with her. Or rather let her talk, while I listened..LOL Yep, there is somebody in the world more verbal than I am..LOL Also Sabra was there, altough not in the show.
And finally I got an admirer last night. That felt like the old Victor Victoria's and Jungle days. Many in the T community will tell you that there are guys out there that are attracted to a girl with a little something different. I certainily qualify as we all know. It was nice, once again, to have a man look at me with "hungry eyes", and let me know that he wanted to get to know me. Yes, he bought me a drink, and yes, he wanted something more. What he wanted was not something that would outlive the night, and I knew that. That was fine, I just didnt necessarily have to pay the particular price he wanted. It was nice being wanted, even if for a night. And no, there is no future, but I hope that someday, someone will look at me, and there will be a desire for a future. But until then, I will enjoy what I can of each experience.
Oh and remind me of that statement when I come bellyaching about being so lonely in a week, or month...LOL (ok ok dont, I will probably not take it well..LOL)
Oh and cap it off, I saw one of a set of guys (not a romantic couple, but a couple of friends) named Buz and Ben. The two of them have known each other for about 30 years and have had only one argrument the entire time. It started when they met and will end when the first of the two dies. Last night I got to hear the latest saga....just too funny. All about gass lines and whether or not waiting in line was more boring than being able or willing to go anywhere. Just too funny. But a great reminder of the old days listening to the two of them squabble. Funny thing was, I saw him, and couldnt remember if he were "pre Vickie" or "post Vickie"...time does blur somethings.
So in summary...great time and a great trip down memory lane.
Oh and you just haven't lived till you hear the name Purple Heys, used as a greeting...at full volume.(usually something like purple HEYS!!!!!)..by a drunk man with a very very loud voice...it is really really something..LOL
