The movie I am wanting to "advertise" a bit is called Loggerheads. It was one of those movies that end up being on fairly late and night and making me want to stay home from work the next day....but it was a good movie. LOL
One thing you have to be aware of is that time lines are distorted, or more accurately beside the point, in this movie. That kind of took me by surprise but after thinking about it, I realized that it was worth that, to experience the message the movie conveys.
There are 3 "groups" in this movie. There is a drifter who is gay, and very concerned about Loggerhead turtles, which are on the endangered species list. We find out later he was very interested in them from boyhood. He ends up at a motel operated by another very nice gay man. So you have their relationship, and the relationship they have with the other people in the town. Then there is a woman who put a child up for adoption and is still, 20 or more years later (I suspect about 23 years), very upset about it, to the point of apparently attempting sucide a while back. Finally we get to see a pastor and his wife. A couple of guys move in next door. It is amazing to watch this pastor changing his attitude about his wife asking them to church based on how their relationship is preceived in the moment.
The bottom line in all of this is that the 3 "groups" are very much connected. The pastor is the adopted father, the woman grieving her son put up for adoption is reasonably enought the same boy's mother. While each group seems to be operating on their own timetable, there still is healing for each of the three groups.
This is not your basic formula movie, but that is what it makes it impressive to me. I recommend it to anybody wanting to see a human interest story that takes all sorts of people and show them serving as healers for each other.
