Well, my first trip to SCC since Roy's passing went fairly well. They honored Roy by including him, along with Robert Eades, in a commorative video with some pictures etc. I missed him, of couse. The two hardest things were being lonely, and when a friend put a card on his hat to paraphase his old saying about "look for the black hat" to "when you get to heavan, look for the man in the black hat". When she first showed me that, I lost it.
I didnt get as many pictures this time but got some really nice ones which I am going to share, obviously.
However, first a quick overview of SCC. Lynda Warran and I went to Blake's for dinner on Wednesday...good food, cheap food and with excellent service. We then went to Model t's and to The Stage Door. Both were quite on a wednesday night but the second one had mostly SCC attenders. We enjoyed and then went back to the hotel fairly early. Thursday was makeover day with Amanda Richards doing my makeup and then in the evening a very special Vanity Club dinner at Petite Aubergue (probably not spelled correctly). Good food altought kind of expensive for what we got, and of course we had fun what with taking pictures etc.
Friday and Saturday, I attended 4 seminars. One was on building bridges within the communty. I made the point that every subgroup tends to think that their goal is the goal for all, whether it be hormones for the TS or going mainstream for the crossdresser. People are in it for different reasons, and we need to accept that. Another one was on "going out" and I found myself needing to point out that there are a-holes in all groups...be they GLBT or not. Sometimes as a Gay Crossdresser, I found that I have two battles..one over crossdressing and the other over the fact that I identify as Gay...not all T-people seem to want to accept that and there is, unfortunately, a certain amount of Gay bashing in the T community. However there is "T-bashing" in the gay community and of course the mainstream populace thinks both communities are bizarre and "wrong" in some manner, so we all have something to learn. (smile) The other two were on "a middle way" and "senior crossdressers". Both dealed with how far to go, and how to plan.
I also got to meet some really interesting people. I ate lunch and talked with Donna Rose, who is with the HRC board and transgendered. She was great fun. I also met a guy named Neal who works with GLAD. He was very sweet, friendly, and personally I would add "cute" to the list of adjectures that apply to him. (chuckle).
Well now back to "real life" but first, the pictures. (they are thumbnails and will have a discriptive if you run your cursor over them).
Here are some pictures taken by Miranda Wright especially for the Vanity Club dinner on Thursday
