Trip out with Lynda
Ok, so based on the previous try with the new camera, which was out of doors in the sunlight, I am a bit disappointed in my new camera's performance for the first try out on a "Vickie does the town" night. I am hoping it is the setting and maybe the lighting that I didnt adjust for. Or maybe it is just better for daytime shots. Which means it will be ideal for most of my Maine trip.
But anyway, my friend, Lynda, came though Nashville on her way to the Southern Comfort Conference in Atlanta. Those familar with years past, know that as one of the largest Transgendered conference in the United States and possibly the world. Roy and I went for 8 years running, and then the year after he died, I went alone, but I missed last year, and have other plans this year. The future will tell if I ever go back, altough I suspect maybe not. Anyway, Lynda is a dear friend, as she was of Roy as well, so each year she stops off in Nashville and we go out and have dinner and just enjoy being together. This year was no exception....such it was that I ventured out on a Sunday night even though I have to work tomorrow. (but only tomorrow for this week)
We went to a new restaurant that is in Red's old location called Suzy Wongs House of Yum. It is Oriental but what I think is called "fusion". Which means they specialize in Tapa dishes. The good thing about that is that you get to sample several things, ..well, if you are willing to pay for it you are, they range from 3-10 dollars for a "little plate". The option, or in our case, in addition, you can get a bowl which is quite reasonable at about 9 dollars. For the "little plates" we have a scrimp one, a pork one, and veggie pot stickers and won ton chips with sweet and sour sauce. They were all simply lovely. Then while Lynda had some sort of pork or beef thingy, I had Peanut Sauce Chicken Pentaug, which was wonderful. Not a cheap restuarant by any means, but I would say for the two of us probably close to 50.00 but good for an occasional thing.
After this we went to Purple Heys, where we basically had something to drink (neither of us was in the mood for anything Alcoholic at this point was it was fruit juice for me and soda for Lynda) and took some pictures and then she brought me home and went back to her motel. Nice time.
